Three teams to compete at BC Provincials

Three teams will compete for the BC Wheelchair Championship in Kimberley February 3-6, and the opportunity to represent their province at the 2011 National Championships in Edmonton March 20-27, 2011.

Reigning champions Gary Cormack and Vince Miele return with Frank LaBounty and Alison Duddy, beaten finalists in 2010. Last year's lead, Corinne Jensen is a casualty of the location, forced to decide that the travel costs from the Island are prohibitive.

Last year's silver medallist Gerry Austgarden is not competing this year, but teammate and double Paralympian gold medallist Sonja Gaudet will play with Bob MacDonald, Bill Lindstrom and Samantha Siu.

Paralympian Gold medallists Jim Armstrong, Darryl Neighbour and Chris Daw will play with Jacqui Roy.

Whitney Warren's non-appearance will end his streak of appearing at every National Championship at seven.

Why would Jim ask Chris to play?

Because they're both familiar with being in the shithouse?

I think it was a long time obligation from when they initially met.

It will be interesting to see how the Armstrong/Daw/Neighbour combination works. I doubt we will see anything near the Daw of old. Armstrong has always had an on-ice attitude that he is the boss, period. I suspect that will be good for Chris.

This is Chris's best shot at getting back into competitive curling. He obviously wants to give it a shot, and good for Jim and Darryl to provide it.

I also wonder if Team Canada staff were involved behing the scenes? Let Jim figure out if Chris still is good enough and will fit into the present program.

I don't think anyone should read too much into this. Chris was the first wc curler Jim met. Chris was one of the first to endorse Jim's eligibility. Maybe it is pay back time,

I think the last blogger hit it on the head. A courtesy at Cris's request.
